Multiverse: The hypothetical set of possible universes, including the universe in which we live.
Ragged Wing Ensemble, known throughout the Bay Area for its original, ensemble-driven productions, presents Multiverse, a new multidisciplinary performance piece that journeys through worlds of music, visual art, storytelling, and movement.
Two scientists-turned-astronauts, looking to escape the cruelty and destruction of our current world, travel through multiple realities (dystopian, strange, beautiful, and comic) looking for a kinder, freer universe. As they travel, their identities are thrown into question, and they must grapple with the scariest thing in the multiverse: themselves. Will they find a way beyond our broken universe? And who will they become along the way?
Collaboratively created (conceived of, written, directed, and performed) by a diverse team of seven multi-talented artists, with guidance from Ragged Wing Artistic Director Amy Sass, Multiverse takes us on a wild ride through possible realities and back to ourselves. This show poses the questions we are all asking in this political moment: Can we escape this broken universe? Or can we fix it? What happens when we realize that the real change starts inside each of us?
