This course will cover the fundamental principles behind working with rhythms to transform raw substances into essential substances. Alchemically this is known as spagyric processing. Such an alchemical process requires great attention to the rhythmic return cycles of Sun, Moon, and Stars when starting and undertaking laboratory work. The course will start with an overview of astronomical rhythms and then use those rhythms to explore plant cultivation and harvesting, weather and climate patterns, zodiacal basis for agricultural festivals and the use of the idea of the form germ to guide a yearly survey of alchemical laboratory processes.
