The Nature of Native Plants:
What they are, Why we love them, Ways to enjoy them, and Where the Jobs Are.

Thousands of native plant species grow in our state!
California Native Plant Society (CNPS) has been busy studying and protecting this diversity for over sixty years now, and spreading the enthusiasm. A member of our local East Bay Chapter of CNPS, Sally de Becker, will describe what a native plant really is and why they are so good for nature and for us.

We will learn about the best places in our local area to enjoy native plants, and the best native plants from Ploughshares that are easy to grow. Thinking about becoming a naturalist, environmental scientist or botanist (?), Ms. de Becker, a professional biologist, will also share career information.

This talk is suitable for anyone who can the difference between a radish and a acorn!
