Autumn at Filoli Festival
Saturday, September 26, 10:00AM-3:30PM
Filoli Center, 86 Canada Road, Woodside
Adults $25, children 5-17 $5, 4 and younger free
Filoli is spectacular in the Autumn. Golden hills, clear blue sky, the air still warm and rich with the scent of ripe fruit. The Gardens still wear their summer finery. On this special day, children can chase bubbles and meet birds, run races, and pick pumpkins. Adults can sip cider and feel like kids again while enjoying the beauty and peace of the day. Jump for Joy! The ever-popular Sterling the Bubblesmith delights all ages. Happy Birds Performing Parrot Show, a puppet show, and a magician will all be performing for you and your family. The San Francisco Zoomobile will even stop by for a surprise visit! Also, between all this excitement, do not miss your chance to meet Filoli’s famous Strolling Pumpkin!
Compete in Centennial Games. New this year, help celebrate Filoli’s three year long Centennial by cheering on children as they compete in old fashioned games like a 3-legged race, egg race, and others. Also new this year, Kid Food (including apples, of course) will be available for sale on the Tennis Court. Nearby, kids can pick a pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch and paint it their way.
Put your kids to work and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Many of the apples picked for the Festival will be used to make fresh apple cider for all to enjoy. Kids enjoy helping and love the end result. Our special blend cider and tasty treats will be for sale to kids of all ages, all day.
The Filoli Garden and Gift Shop will be open all day, with special vendors in the Shop courtyard selling their creations. If you didn’t get a chance to taste Filoli’s apple and pear butters last year, look for them this year - they were a sell out! Between shows or strolls, head into the Visitor and Education Center and taste Filoli’s apples, pears, table grapes, and other fruit (sorry, no wine), most of which can’t be found at any farmer’s market. Discover your favorite.
Head out to The Gentlemen’s Orchard, where Orchard docents can tell you about Filoli’s heirloom fruit tree collection, the largest in the United States. Meet some of the 600+ trees and enjoy some of their delicious fruit.
Live Music, BBQ Lunches and Café Refreshments
Delicious lunches will be served up on the Tennis Court while you enjoy the music of The Amigos in the background. You might even catch some folks dancing in the late afternoon sun! Lunch and snacks will be available in the Café, open all day. As always, there will be a special Autumn floral demonstration and docents from the Garden Information services, House and Garden, and Nature Education committees who will be on hand to answer questions and help you enjoy your visit. We look forward to seeing you!
