Take Back Your Period: A Discussion On Blood And Shame
with Janeen & Daniela of Holy Sponge!
Sunday, September 13, 6:00-8:30PM
Homestead Apothecary, 486 49th Street,  #C, Oakland, 510-495-6549

Spend an evening with the ladies of Holy Sponge! (Janeen & Daniela) in a discussion on the ultimate Taboo - Menstruation. We’ll dig deep into topics concerning our bodies and our blood, the shame and stigma attached to our periods, tampons vs alternative products, the environmental impact of disposables, creating ritual around your cycle, and everything you need to know about Sea Sponges! for menstruation. Each participant receives a copy of Damn Bloody Rite: A Periodic Rag Mag.

Janeen and Daniela have been collaborating as artist and Menstrual Activists for over three years now. Janeen, founder of Holy Sponge!, first used and fell in love with alternative menstrual products (Sponges!) in the desert wilds of New Mexico and is now committed to making them more widely available. Daniela, the Workshop Madame, has been leading groups for many years and sees Menstrual Activism as the culmination of such crucial topics as body shame, environmentalism, consumerism, and women’s health. Together they are a force of nature and their workshops should not be missed!
