DIY Drought Solutions
Saturday, August 29, 10:00AM-2:00PM
Santa Rosa City Hall, 100 Santa Rosa Avenue, Santa Rosa
Practical Solutions To Reduce Your Water Use
Come down to City Hall on Saturday August 29 between 10:00AM-2:00PM to explore a range of do-it-yourself solutions to help you meet (and even exceed!) mandatory water restrictions.
Learn how to liberate yourself from your water-thirsty lawn, use smart controllers, install drip irrigation, select drought-tolerant plants, reuse graywater and harvest the rain. Experts will be on hand to offer one-on-one advice, there will be seminars and workshops running throughout the day, a kids’ activity area and water-wise giveaways.
This free family-friendly event is being organized by the City of Santa Rosa, with support from the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership and Daily Acts.
The event will mainly focus on outdoor water conservation, which accounts for about 50% of average residential water use. However, this can be dramatically reduced by adopting simple behavior changes and making water smart choices, for example, sheet mulching just 500 square feet of lawn can save up to 12,500 gallons of water per year.
