Learn to make leather sandals for your own feet!
We’ll explore every step of the sandal-making process, starting off by customizing trusted patterns to suit your own feet and design preferences. Then we’ll cut and assemble natural vegetable-tanned leather, paying close attention to fit. Next we’ll attach the layers to a foam-rubber sole that will mold beautifully to the curves of your feet over time. You'll leave the final class with your ready-to-wear sandals and they'll develop a darker patina as you wear them!
Rachel will provide 3 general sandal styles to choose from: a tying sandal, toe slide sandal, or a buckling sandal.
Simple sandal-making is a great way to get into DIY shoemaking of all kinds. After this workshop, you’ll be able to replicate the process at home with only a few simple tools.
