Singing, Hiking, Communing with Nature by the Beautiful SF Bay!

I am offering an 8-week intensive singing workshop here in the Bay Area. It will be part vocal lesson, part facilitated improv singing, and part communing with nature.

Each week, we will meet in a different place in nature; Redwood Park, the Emeryville Marina, etc. There will be hiking. Once we are ensconced in a beautiful meadow or on a blanket by the bay, we will take a meditative journey to the Well of Song, a shimmering pool from whence all music flows. After a brief vocal warm up, we will dip into the well and draw forth what music comes. I will facilitate this, drawing songs from the well and assigning parts to the group in 3 or 4 part harmony (depending on how many folks we get).

I will pull parts out and give new parts to the group as the energy ebbs and flows, and likewise each of you will be welcome to add your own parts as the spirit moves you.

Our intention for the series will be to commune with the spirits of the places we visit. Opening ourselves to the currents of life all around us through song is a wonderful, and often ecstatic, experience. You will come away buzzing, open, refreshed and rejuvenated.

The beauty of the Well of Song is, since it is purely improvisational, each circle is different, depending on the participants, the location, and what is going on for us at the time. A guided journey of pure musical expression, we each get just what we need in that moment. It is a lovely way to spend time with our fellow beings.

We’ll probably see some fantastic sunsets to boot!
