Preserving Soil: Garden Fermentations
with Kristyn Leach of Namu Farms
Thursday, June 11, 6:00-8:00PM
Preserved Backyard Workshop, 4200 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland
This class will focus on building fertility in your garden through cultivating your soil food web. Learn what your vegetables and herbs need to grow vigorously and get hands on experience in making your own forms of fertilizer. We will focus on creating compost tea and other fermentation processes that allow gardeners and farmers to access a wide range of nutrients, and create a closed loop system. For centuries farmers have known how to create healthy and sustainable systems without buying inputs. Remembering this knowledge will allow us to grow healthier, heartier plants with minimal capital. This class is led by local farmer Kristyn Leach of Namu Farm in Sunol.
