Relive the age of great trains behind a 1921 steam locomotive as it winds through historic Niles Canyon from Sunol to Niles and back on a 90-minute journey. The Golden Gate Railroad Museum's restored steam locomotive Southern Pacific 2472 will be accompanied by vintage equipment of the Niles Canyon Railway, re-creating a historic train - and creating memories for tomorrow. The spring steam train will run on March 28 & 29, 2015, with three round trip departures leaving from Sunol Depot each day.
Saturday 3/28: 11:00AM, 1:00PM & 3:00PM
Sunday 3/29: 11:00AM, 1:00PM & 3:00PM
This weekend we will also be featuring our restored Fairbanks Morse locomotive. FM used its successful line of submarine diesel engines to enter the locomotive market in 1947. The unusual engine has a unique sound. GGRM is one of the few museums in the country to operate a restored FM. Come see it along with the 2472!
