Gender Riddles from Heaven: A Queer Astrology preview event
with Rae Diamond
Wednesday, March 18, 7:30PM
Room 560, CIIS, 1453 Mission Street, San Francisco

What exactly is the gender of a god? Venus is desirable, but does that make her feminine? Mars is active, but does that make him masculine? Uranus is potent thought, but he’s been castrated. The sun is masculine in France but feminine in Germany, while the moon is feminine in Italy but masculine in Tuva. Who can catch a clear glimpse of the illusive gender of Neptune or the protean gender of Mercury? Do Jupiter’s boundlessness or Saturn’s limitation possess gender at all? What does gender mean to the god of death? How is it that planets are mostly male while asteroids are mostly female? Why is strife ruled by a goddess rather than a god, and what does it mean to us that she is circling the edge of our known solar system?

Join presenter Rae Diamond for this free talk, warming up the Queer Astrology Conference weekend. All are welcome!
