Our speaker will be Mark Hylkema, who has 33 years of experience teaching archeology and Native American culture, who will be speaking on Excavating the Castroville Mammoths.

In 2011, Ice Age bones of two mammoths were unearthed in a Castroville Artichoke Orchard. Over the last four years, local archeologists have been excavating the site, finding bones, teeth, and even Mammoth hair!

Come prepared to learn a lot from Mark as he shares his varied experience with directing the excavation and learning the findings of this interesting local discovery.  Admission is FREE, and we hope to see you there!
