February 22 is the ancient Roman Charistia celebration, a day of forgiveness honoring the Goddess Concordia. At this ritual, we will take some time to prepare by writing out lists of names of people whom we have wronged as well as people who have wronged us, whether the wrongs were accidental or deliberate. Then, in sacred ceremony, in an act of radical forgiveness, we will release our fear, guilt, anger, and resentment by burning these papers. Radical forgiveness ceremonies offers us a way that we can let go and choose to move on with our lives, without being dominated by the past. It's not the same as condoning the actions of past--instead, it is an act of personal responsibility toward liberation and self-healing. It's a way of reclaiming ourselves and saying, "The past offers me lessons, but it does not define me." Please arrive ready to let go.
