Layering traditional Hindu Kirtan with instantly accessible melodies and modern instrumentation, with a remarkably soulful voice that touches the deepest chord in any listener, Krishna Das has been called yoga's "rock star." Krishna Das - known to friends, family, and fans as simply KD - has taken the call-and-response chanting out of yoga centers and into concert halls, becoming a worldwide icon and the best-selling chant artist of all time, with over 300,000 records sold.
His album 'Live Ananda' (released January 2012) was nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Age album category. His most recent album entitled ‘Kirtan Wallah’ was a westward-leaning project that still captures the spirit of traditional Indian devotional chants. The feature film One Track Heart, the story of Krishna Das was released in 2012 to rave reviews. KD has recently announced that he will be taking a sabbatical for the remainder 2015-16 year and this will be his final West coast live performances for some time.
"Chanting is a way of getting in touch with yourself. It's an opening of the heart and letting go of the mind and thoughts. It deepens the channel of grace, and it's a way of being present in the moment." - Krishna Das
