Company C Contemporary Ballet will be offering refuge to the multitude of wayward ghosts who find themselves haunting the Bay area during Autumn’s October days.
The ballet, suitable for families and kids, tells the original story of Arcane, the star that sits at the hip of the harvest moon. This allegorical Muse of Autumn comes to Earth each year to animate the dead and bring voice to the voiceless. All those who are awakened for this one night have left something undone or something unsaid and this is their chance to do and say their piece.
The production mines a wide field of traditional, narrative, and theatrical inspirations from the Day of the Dead, an outlandish Rube Goldberg kinetic sculpture, Pacific Islander poi ball spinners, and scratch-and-sniff technology to add a sensory dimension and lots of stage magic and effects to bring the story to life and augment the dancing.
We are greatly inspired by the team of artists we have gathered to work on this extraordinary Halloween project. You can look forward to outstanding contemporary dancing to an exciting original score by Mike Krisukas and choreography by Charles Anderson.
