Celebrate the Creation of Locally Grown and Sewn Denim Jeans
Meet the Farmers, Ranchers, and Skilled Artisans that Grow Our Clothes from the Soil to Our Skin while enjoying the tastes and terroir experience of our land's foods and wines.
Connect and meet the people who provide our first form of shelter… and regionalize your wardrobe at the Fibershed Marketplace - where you can touch, feel and invest in a palette of diverse fibers that have been constructed into garments just for this event.
We’ll be inaugurating our homegrown jeans in the historic barn at the Mann Family Farm in Bolinas, California, just a bit north of the city that popularized this utilitarian garment over a century ago. The homestead will be dotted with demos of indigo dyeing, spinning and weaving.
Included in the evening’s festivities will be a fashion show that weaves the Fibershed producer community together through the pairing of our denim with ‘grass-fed’ tops. We’ve engaged our rangeland and pasture-based farming community - as well as local hand-spinners, knitters, weavers and designers - to take part in this bioregional creation process.
All of the tops and accoutrements will be available for sale, and the bulk of the proceeds will support the farmers and artisans who made them. The jeans have been pre-sold, but our vision is to help build a cooperative that can continue making locally farmed denim garments. Proceeds from this event will help fund a business plan for this next step.
