Ye Gaskell Occasional Dance Society is proud to once more present its October Fancy Dress Ball, at the sumptuous Scottish Rite Hall. This event is our only ball this year, and should not be missed.
Enjoy an evening of music and dancing amongst elegant and sophisticated costumes with music by Franklin Beau Davis and The Brassworks.
Doors open at 7:30PM
Brief lesson at 7:40PM
Dancing from 8:30PM until Midnight
Oh what to wear!
Dance the night away with fairies, goblins, knights, and knaves. Is that a pirate polkaing with a ninja? Yes! Khalisi and Joffrey waltzing? True, and no one died! Captain Kirk cutting a rug with River Song? Hello sweetie!
We love creative costumes at our Fancy Dress ball. Wear something that makes you feel like dancing! However, please use caution when adding pointy things to your costume. Big wings and long swords are special hazards on the dance floor.
Of course, 19th, 20th, and 21st century formal wear is always welcome.
Learn the Dances Before the Ball!
There will be a 2 1/2 hour dance class at the hall the day of the dance from 3:30-6:00PM with a separate $10 admission fee. The class covers waltz, polka, mazurka, schottische, gallop, and the Congress of Vienna Waltz. Dress comfortably and wear smooth-soled shoes. (Sneakers are not recommended.)
This leaves two and a half hours for dining and dressing before the dancing starts at 8:30PM.
