Devi Navaratri is a Hindu festival of worship of the Divine Feminine. Navaratri is considered an important time for physical, mental, and spiritual purification and transformation. Cosmic energy is personified here as Devi or Durga, Mother of the Universe, who vanquishes in battle all the demons or forces of darkness and ignorance. The word Navaratri means nine nights in Sanskrit.

During these nine nights, the Goddess is worshipped in order to seek her protection from all threats that may alter or destroy the peaceful life on Earth.

Navaratri is celebrated with immense zeal and enthusiasm all over India. It is celebrated twice a year - once in Chaitra (March-April) and the other in Ashwin (September-October). The beginning of Spring and Autumn are considered to be auspicious junctions of climatic and solar influence.
