Reminder: 2017 Solstice of Eternal Renewal

Come As You Are to...
CAYA Coven’s Solstice of Eternal Renewal

Saturday, December 16, 2017
Doors open at 7:00PM, circle is cast at 7:15PM
(no one is admitted after circle is cast)

The Home of Truth Spiritual Center (in the Main Hall)
1300 Grand Street
Alameda, CA 94501

$10-$20 donation requested, donations of menstrual supplies also welcome (see details below)

During the longest night of the year, when all is plunged into darkness, we kindle the flames within and ignite the hearthfires of community. We celebrate the long night, and we also look at its fearsome sides. We embrace the lessons of the past year, and greet the year to come.

In honor of Hestia, keeper of welcoming home and warming hearth, and of Hermes, messenger who ventures into the darkness to bless and protect the travellers and those who are on the outside looking in, we will once again be assembling kits of menstrual supplies and other hygiene and comfort items to be donated to local shelters.

We will be providing tampons, pads, and other essential items. We also welcome your contributions. Here are some suggested items:
regular tampons (individually wrapped, unscented)
regular pads (wings preferred, individually wrapped, unscented)
travel package handi-wipes
Panty-liners (individually wrapped, unscented, with “full coverage stick”)
handwarmer packets
travel package size tissue

Feel free to stay after the ritual for a celebration and potluck feast. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Solstice of Eternal Renewal 2016

Come As You Are to...

CAYA Coven’s Solstice of Eternal Renewal
presented by the Order of the Black Madonna

(no one is admitted after circle is cast)

The Home of Truth Spiritual Center (in the Main Hall)

The Order of the Black Madonna invites members of the wider CAYA Coven community and Bay Area Pagans to join us in sacred celebration of the great Dark Mother: She who takes on many forms, who is friend to the oppressed, who empowers women, who cares for all. She is everything that has been suppressed, hidden, and forbidden by traditional Christian theology: a single mother, a woman of color, an agent of social change, and a keeper of feminine wisdom.

Join us in this rite as we seek the spark of renewal at the darkest hour of the year, in a time when the world around us is cold and so many are lost and in pain. May all suffering be alleviated in the glow of Her warmth. As part of our ceremony, we will be assembling supply kits for homeless and under-resourced women.

Feel free to stay after the ritual for a celebration and potluck feast. No one turned away for lack of funds.

CAYA Sprouts Family Circle December 2016: Holiday Cookie Bake

This month, the Sprouts will gather together for a holiday cookie bake!  We will prepare, decorate and infuse holiday treats with our magic, while we share mulled cider, snacks and Yuletide stories, songs and traditions with each other.

Saturday, December 17, 11:00AM-3:00PM

Location: El Cerrito, CA, close to the El Cerrito del Norte BART Station
(Please RSVP for address)

RSVP (by December 15):
cayasprouts@googlegroups.com*
*Note: If you are not yet a member, you will need to request to join the Google Group before you can RSVP.

After the baking and decorating is complete, we will bless the treats, pack them up to be shared at that evening’s CAYA Solstice of Eternal Renewal ritual (as a cakes and ale offering), and pack up any remaining cookies to take home and share with family, friends and neighbors.

Several types of cookie dough and lots of decorations will be provided, but if anyone has a special holiday cookie dough recipe (or anything else you would like to prepare and/or share), feel free to bring along - there is no such thing as too many holiday treats!  We will also have some cookie tins, rolling pins, aprons, parchment paper, and an assortment of cookie cutters on hand, but if you have any of these or other baking supplies you think we might find useful, please bring those along as well.

Coffee, mulled cider and light snacks will be provided. $10-$15 materials donation requested - no one turned away for lack of funds.

Come As You Are Pagan Congregation’s Sprouts Family Circles are monthly gatherings of eclectic, interfaith families with a desire to co-create safe, fun, loving, magical, child-centric spaces where kids and their caregivers can come together to deepen their relationship with Nature, Mother Earth and each other. We honor all spiritual paths and strive to create a mutually supportive environment in which to explore and develop our own unique practices to integrate Earth-based spirituality and parenting.

Families of all sorts, with children of all ages are welcome. Activities can be shortened or modified to make them suitable for even the youngest child, and the older children are encouraged to deepen their practice and develop their leadership skills by assisting adults with the planning and facilitation of structured activities, as well as assisting with caregiving and mentoring during the kids free-play/adult discussion time.
